I recently got a chance to review Raising Amazing Children (...While Having a Life of Your Own) (also available in paperback).
The premise of this book is that you can do everything that needs to be done and still spend quality time with your kids. The author, Deborah Carroll, also maintains a very helpful great parenting Hubpages website with a lot of ideas, which I recommend as a resource for parenting tips. This book is written in a very comfortable tone that makes it easy to read, and provides a lot of ways to turn everyday interactions into quality time for you and your kids, as well as learning experiences for your kids. Instead of trying to rush through everything and then find ways to spend time with your kids at the end of a long, exhausting day of chores (while trying to keep your kids busy doing something else so they aren't in the way), this book shows how easy it can be to have your kids help you, and turn it into an enjoyable time for both you and your kids, even if things do take a little bit longer.
If you already have a good balance of quality time and work, or you are already including your kids while you're going about your everyday tasks, you may not find a lot of new tips here. But if you feel like you could be doing more, then check this book out.
Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy to facilitate this review.
