Sock n Boots, in recognition of Reading Month, will be offering its educational and visually-stimulating storybook collection for children ages 1-8 as a complimentary, downloadable eBook and Android™, iPad®, iPod® and iPhone® application for the entire month of March 2012 to children in every country. An augmented version of the e-book will also be available equipped with sign language. The company has had the stories translated into seven languages to help make its goal a reality: including Brazilian- Portuguese, Mandarin –Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, Italian, French, and Arabic.
March is recognized throughout the U.S. as National Reading Month; designated as such by the National Education Association in honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday. The organization will celebrate its 15th Annual Read Across America Day today!
As recently published on DigitalBookWorld.com, an exploratory survey by the Joan Ganz Cooney Center at Sesame Workshop revealed that most of the children in the study preferred reading an e-book to a print book and the comprehension between the two formats was the same. In response to this growing interest and in eBooks as a way to attract children to more reading time, Sock n Boots feels it will have a wider reach to children by delivering the experience in a variety of formats – both print and digital.
