Soul Sustenance: Beyond Bath Time

I recently had the chance to review Beyond Bath Time: Embracing Motherhood as a Sacred Role (available April 1st), a Christian perspective that affirms and encourages mothers.

I liked this book. It would work for a small group study or an individual read. At the end of each chapter there are a few questions that help the reader reflect on motherhood and the way she experiences it. There are Bible verses that support motherhood throughout the book, and she draws on experiences from women in a variety of stages of motherhood. What I really like about this book is that it works for SAHMs, WAHMs, and working outside-the-home moms. She doesn't preach that any one way of mothering is right, only that we can fulfill a God-given duty by parenting faithfully.

Obviously, if you're not a Christian, this book isn't targeted to you. But if you are, and are looking for some encouraging in your role as a mom, check this book out when it becomes available.

You can find out more information, and resources for use in a moms' group, at Beyond Bath Time. You can also connect with @BeyondBathTime and like Beyond Bath Time on Facebook.

Disclosure: I received an ebook version of Beyond Bath Time to facilitate this review.
