Consumer Critique: Bullying: Replies, Rebuttals, Confessions, and Catharsis
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, which is a type of bullying - the subject of a new book published by Skyhorse Publishing, Bullying: Replies, Rebuttals, Confessions, and Catharsis
.
This book is a collection of essays written about bullying. Some are viewpoints of victims, some are viewpoints of bullies, some are both - and some are written without a particular bullying incident in mind. It's an important read, and very eye-opening, but it's not easy - for a variety of reasons. If you've ever been a victim of bullying, it may trigger old memories. For those who have bullied, it may cause an emotional, defensive reaction. It can seem shocking to those who have never experienced bullying. But it provides an important perspective on the issue by showing its effects - and just how many ways it touches people's lives, not just in the realm of schoolchildren, but also in the workplace, in families, and more. Teachers, parents, anyone in a position of authority, or anyone who has ever been a bully or a victim - all would benefit from reading this book.
