Have you heard of the
5 Love Languages? This popular book series is built on the premise that there are five main ways that we like to show or receive love, and that by understanding the differences, we can have healthier relationships. There are books geared towards parents, men, women, and more - and if you've never looked at any of them, I encourage you to check them out.
A Perfect Pet for Peyton: A 5 Love Languages Discovery Book
is a book geared directly to children. There are a lot of great features about this book. First, the story is engaging - children get to discover the perfect pet for them at a birthday party. Second, there are little "extras" for kids to do, like look for the bugs on each page or find things in certain pictures. And finally, there's a nice explanation at the end and a Q&A activity after the story to help kids discover their own love language in terms they can understand.
I always like it when a book is able to help kids verbalize concepts they may not know how to. And after reading the book geared for parents,
The Five Love Languages of Children
, it really can help you be aware of how you can best show your child love in a way that matters most to them.
Disclosure: I received a copy of the book to facilitate this review.
