Healthy Habits: Feet

Healthy feet can make the rest of you feel better - if they're sore, it can make your knees, legs, and back sore as well, if problems get out of hand. Here are some easy tips to keep the "roots" of your body healthy.

Stretch and massage - stretch your toes as far apart as they go, then scrunch together. Repeat several times. Then make circles with your ankles several times each way. Finish with a rub down, including wringing your arches like a dishrag.

Scrub - don't forget your feet in the shower. Use a pumice stone or a nail brush to exfoliate and wash.

Shoes - make sure your shoes are comfortable if you're wearing them for a long time (no super-high heels or really thin flats).

Soak - soak your feet for 20-30 minutes in warm water with Epsom salts on particularly sore days. Epsom salts are a natural anti-inflammatory and works to reduce swelling, plus it feels good to relax!
