Consumer Critique: Preemie

Other than one casual friend of mine from grade school, I haven't had much direct experience with preemies. Then I got to read Preemie: Lessons in Love, Life, and Motherhood by Kasey Mathews and got a very close look at one family's story.

Kasey had a healthy son with no pregnancy complications, then got pregnant again - and this time delivered four months early. The book takes you on a journey through all of the emotions, struggles, and successes that come with having a baby who didn't even weigh two pounds at birth.

This is another one of those books that is not an easy read. It can be a fairly quick read, but it is emotionally gripping and challenging, even if you've never experienced the struggles she's had before. She writes in such a way as to pull everyone in, whether or not they've had to deal with premature birth. This book can serve as an inspiration to those who are currently struggling with a pre-term child, or as an eye-opener for anyone who never has but would like to be able to see a glimpse into the world of a preemie's mother.

Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of this book to facilitate my review.
