Healthy Habits: Protecting Your Memory

Some people have better memories than others. There are things you can do to improve yours, especially long-term - tricks to train your brain that are fun and can keep your brain functioning better later in life.

Dancing - because it requires thought to coordinate yourself
Computer games - some require strategy, some improve coordination and reasoning, others challenge your linguistic or logic skills
Exercise - it increases blood flow to your brain
Change it up - working a part of your brain that you aren't as comfortable with is like working out a weaker part of your body; it will make your whole brain stronger. So if you struggle with spatial reasoning, try playing navigator; if you normally don't like numbers, try figuring a budget or balancing a checkbook.
Travel - visiting new places, just like learning new skills, helps build new neural pathways.
