Just over one year ago, Sudanese government began attacking its own people in the Nuba Mountains. Hundreds of hungry and tired Nuban people fleeing
the fighting arrive in South Sudan on a daily basis. Samaritan's Purse
continues to meet basic needs at two camps that have become home for
nearly 200,000 refugees.
· The number of malnourished children receiving outpatient therapeutic feeding has increased by 30 percent since May.
· The number of severely malnourished children admitted to our inpatient stabilization center increased by 181 percent.
· The highest number of inpatient admissions (73) in a single day was Tuesday, July 3.
The
rainy season will begin soon, and roads will be cut off. The only way
to deliver food and supplies will be by plane, a more expensive method
of transport. One food shipment by truck can feed up to 36,000 people
for one day, while a shipment by plane can only feed up to 5,400.
Samaritan's Purse needs prayer and financial support to continue providing this vital service to the people of this region. You can view videos about the situation in Sudan to learn more.
