When your child starts to approach the age where they begin
to take interests in extracurricular activities they have many options. There
are team sports, art, science lessons they can take but one lesson that seems
to be the most beneficial for your child is music. Here are 4 reasons to
consider enrolling you child into a music course:
Positive
outlet:Growing up can be difficult, all sorts of life lessons to be
learned and hormones forming can lead any child to a frustrating time. Children
have a difficulty expressing themselves as is and especially during difficult
times. Music is a great way to channel their thoughts and feelings in a more
positive way. Music allows children to be creative and whatever they want to
be, it’s an outlet that children need.
Friends:
Getting
into music classes will help your child meet friends outside of the classroom.
They will be able to relate to their music mate in ways that their friends at
school can’t. There are all sorts of music clubs and groups throughout their
teens and young adult hood that can help mold their lives.
Intellectual:
Music
lessons teach a child to read sheets and notes and require great focus. That
focus is learned and can be carried over into school work. There are studies
that show kids who take music lessons often do well in school. Depending on
your child’s level of proficiency, music lessons can help pay for college with
scholarships and grants.
Responsibility:
Whether your child is in choir or learning an instrument, these come with
responsibility. Music lessons require being on time and with certain supplies,
it almost acts as a job. Instruments and music sheets are required and
expensive. They have to clean and care for their instruments to keep them
working properly.
Music lessons can range from different kinds of choir like
opera, show tunes or a cappella; but if your child shows interest in
instruments they have many options like piano, guitar and violin. Whatever you
and your child choose, it will be a good decision for both! Play on!
