Shopping Savings: Rite Aid 10 Days of Digital Deals

The Rites are back. And this time the quirky, Rite Aid-loving digital family has taken over Rite Aid's Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest pages to share digital postcards chronicling 10 days of cross-country travels and offer valuable savings to fans and followers of Rite Aid. Each postcard unlocks a limited number of themed summer deals – for example, today's Rite Aid coupons include one worth $5 off kids' tents and sleeping bags and one good for $2 off tiki torches in celebration of the Rites trip to New York state's Adirondack mountains.

 

Fans of Rite Aid's Facebook page will recognize the cast of relatable characters – Procrastinating Papa Rite, Deal Digger Mama Rite, Over-the-Top Olivia Rite, Scrooge Sally Rite and Prepared and Preppy Patrick Rite – as the same gift bearers from Rite Aid's 25 Deals of Christmas promotion in 2011. This time, the Rites have also invaded the fast-growing virtual bulletin board Pinterest to share their family photos and companion deals.

 

"Like many American families, the Rites are on a mission to have a little fun this summer without spending a lot of money," said John Learish, senior vice president of marketing for Rite Aid. "We hope Rite Aid followers across the social media landscape will check back often to see where the Rites head next and to claim a Rites souvenir in the form of three daily deals plus any bonus deals that the Rites find along the way."

 

The Rites' two-week virtual road trip will take the family to popular vacation destinations across the country, including the museums of Washington, D.C.; hot and steamy New Orleans; the Space Needle in Seattle; and a final chocolate-filled stop in Hershey, Pa. The Rites are also sending back free summer savings to anyone who "liked" Rite Aid's Facebook page at www.facebook.com/riteaid including more than 30 deals between $1 and $10 off of common summer products such As Seen on TV products including Slushy Magic, toys, allergy medications, personal care items, sunscreens, photo products, patio furniture and, of course, bug spray. Visitors can also take and share quizzes revealing which Rite they are most like or help unlock additional bonus deals that are unveiled with enough Facebook "likes."
