Consumer Critique: Seabuck Wonders

There's been a lot of research lately about how good certain omega fatty acids are for us. I just had the chance to try out a product from Seabuck Wonders that's made not from flaxseed or fish (two typical sources) but from the Sea Buckthorn. There are several things that make this unique. First of all, the berry oil contains omega-7, a fatty acid that occurs in the skin and helps the skin heal itself. It's also 100% organic and 100% pure, using only the oil. Not only does it contain omega 7, it also has vitamin E and beta-carotene. And the oil is versatile - it can be used directly on the skin or hair or in skin and care products.

Sea Buckthorn has been featured on the Dr. Oz show and comes in a variety of products - softgels, berry oil, seed oil, and facial cream and body lotion. It can be purchased online or in select health foods stores (use the where to purchase section of the site to find locations near you).

The softgels are the easiest for me to use, because that's how I'm used to taking Omega-3. The oils were a little harder - I couldn't take them alone, but I could mix it into yogurt. It's hard to say if I really saw a difference, since I've been taking omega fatty acid supplements for a while, and I don't really have skin issues to try it out as a topical application.

Disclosure: I received complimentary products from Seabuck Wonders to facilitate this post.
