Caring Causes: Pink Pumpkins

Did you know that breast cancer is one of the leading causes of death among women? I personally have two friends whose mothers died battling breast cancer, and my grandmother and another friend are survivors.

There's a fun and beautiful new product that will get you in the fall mood while helping raise funds for breast cancer research. The Pink Pumpkin Patch and is promoting a natural pink-skinned pumpkin, which is debuting all across the country this October just in time for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

These pink pumpkins are part of the Pink Pumpkin Patch Foundation’s national campaign, “Pink Pumpkins on Your Porch – Let’s Unite Against Breast Cancer.” The campaign is designed to encourage everyone to join the fight against breast cancer by placing pink pumpkins on their porches and in their homes as part of their annual Halloween and fall décor.

In support of “Pink Pumpkins on Your Porch,” the Pink Pumpkin Patch Foundation has partnered with pumpkin farm owners and growers across the country who have agreed to $.25 per pumpkin to the Pink Pumpkin Patch Foundation.  Funds will then be donated to breast cancer research organizations.

Pink pumpkins can be found at retailers nationwide, including Wal-mart, Kroger, Cub, Byerly's/Lunds, Safeway, Home Depot, and more.
