Consumer Critique: Brylane Home Panini Maker

Brylane Home recently expanded their collection of home goods to include a variety of entertainment and electronics items. Not only do they sell items from popular brands such as Cuisinart and Hamilton Beach, but they also have a huge selection in their own branded items - pretty much every small appliance you can think of for the kitchen.

I recently had the chance to try out the Brylane Home Panini Maker. This panini maker, currently on sale for $39.99 (regular price $59.99), is very versatile. The floating hinge means it doesn't matter how thick your sandwiches are - they are still able to fit on the panini and be evenly grilled. It has a grease tray, so you can use it for grilling meats indoors too.

My only complaint with it at this point is the same complaint I have with all new kitchen appliances - they stink the first time you use them. No matter what brand I've tried, or what type of appliance, they all have that burning-plastic smell at first (and the manual does warn about that too). the manual is easy to understand, and the panini maker is easy to use. It's a pretty good size, and grills fairly quickly, so it was a great way to make fancy sandwiches that are too thick to make on the griddle - a griddle is just fine for grilled cheese, or even grilled cheese with a slice of meat, but making a thick sandwich with lots of fillings means it can't be flipped on a griddle. I've had fun trying out this appliance and my family has loved eating what comes out!

Disclosure: I received a complimentary panini maker from Brylane Home to facilitate this review.
