Money Makers: Tax Preparation

Are you interested in learning how to become a tax preparer? One of my friends actually is. She was a math major, and has an education background, and she loves the months of March and April because she makes really good money helping other people prepare their tax returns. She has a good head for numbers as well as good attention for detail - and she needs the extra cash! You can feel comfortable knowing you have the skills necessary to help other people prepare their tax returns if you take the Registered Tax Return Preparer exam. This test certifies that you've met the minimum competencies required to help other people on their tax returns. You might be a good candidate for helping others on their tax returns if you like to do your own (especially manually), you don't mind wading through paper work, you are able to spend some extra time working in March and the first half of April, and you can look at a lot of numbers in a day without your head spinning. You don't necessarily need to have business or math background or education (obviously you can use calculators to check your work), but it definitely helps to at least have general math sense.
