I had the opportunity to interview Katie and Erica about the site.
1) What was the inspiration behind creating Hukkster?
We met over six years ago
at J.Crew where we worked side by side as apparel merchandisers. While
working at J.Crew we had access to a wonderful corporate discount on all
of our favorite J.Crew styles. However, once we transitioned into
management consulting, we no longer had access to this discount nor did
we have time to stay abreast of the latest offers. We were completely
overwhelmed as our email inboxes overflowed with special deals and flash
sales. We knew there had to be a better way to pull only the relevant
content we were interested in and that's when Hukkster was born. We
built Hukkster as a tool for savvy shoppers, like ourselves, who know
what they want but their free time is limited. Our goal is to save you
time and money, so you can spend it on more important things.
2) How does Hukkster work?
Hukkster
is a button that sits in your browser (just like Pinterest's pin it
button). You visit your favorite stores online and simply click the hukk
it button when you come across a product you're interested in tracking.
Hukkster will simply track that product for you and notify you when it
goes on sale (we'll also tell you about any relevant promo or coupon
code). It's that easy. You can visit www.hukkster.com at anytime to review the products you're tracking, organize them and share with friends.
3) What categories is Hukkster ideal for? Any additional categories in the works?
Today, most of our members are tracking men's and women's apparel, accessories, childrenswear, home goods and sporting goods.
Here's a list of our members' favorite sites: Ann Taylor, Anthropologie, Banana Republic, Bloomingdales, Gap, J.Crew, Macy's , Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Piperlime, Saks, Shopbop
