Caring Causes: Operation Smile

Operation Smile is an international children's medical charity that provides patient evaluations and free surgeries for children and young adults born with cleft lips, cleft palates and other facial deformities.

One of my friends recently adopted a child with cleft lip and palate, and is in the process of adopting a second. It is a relatively easy fix for most kids, but it is major surgery and can be expensive. Charities like Operation Smile are able to help eliminate the cost burden for many people - since 1982, they've done 2 million evaluations and 200,000 surgeries.
