I recently had a chance to read Does This Church Make Me Look Fat? Right from the title, I was prepared to read a humorous, possibly slightly sacrilegious, book. I wasn't disappointed.
People who are anti-religion probably won't appreciate this book, as the author, Rhoda Janzen, finds a faith very different from her Mennonite upbringings in a Pentecostalist church. but the way she writes, even people who don't go to church will be able to appreciate the humor and non-preachy tone she uses.
I loved the book. I found it funny, yet willing to tackle fairly serious topics. I love the tone of her writing - it made it really easy to read and get through the whole book in a weekend! Now I want to go back and read her earlier work, Mennonite in a Little Black Dress.
