World Wisdom: Rechargeable Batteries

As I'm sitting here in the kitchen (where I can see some of our girls' toys in the living room), I can count six toys that use batteries (two Play-Doh things, a keyboard, two drums, and a book that makes noise). I'm sure in any given room of your house there are plenty of devices with batteries.

Rechargeable batteries are a nice option. Not only can you use them over and over, but they're also more easily recyclable (any Best Buy will take them, for example) when they finally run out of juice.

The vast majority of our devices use AA batteries. We have an all-purpose charger that will charger any size, but it takes 8 hours. I'd love to get something like this Quick Charger for our AA batteries, since it would only take an hour, and that would be a lot nicer if, for example, I need to charge my camera batteries and remember the morning of the event. It's also less waiting time for kids if they're favorite toy runs out of batteries.

To be as eco-friendly as possible, always remember to turn off your battery-powered devices when not in use, and recycle the batteries when you are done with them.
