I got a chance to review an eclectic collection of "For Dummies" books. If you don't know anything about this series, the books in it (all written by different authors), take a complicated topic and break it down so that anyone can understand it. Yet, they aren't written in a condescending tone. They're straightforward and easy-to-follow - but still contain information that people who are experienced in the topic will still be able to learn from.
Take these three books, for instance: Belly Fat Diet For Dummies, Birth Plans For Dummies, and Online Reputation Management For Dummies. I know a lot about healthy eating and I have a fairly trim figure (not perfect, but I'm at a healthy weight). I've given birth twice and did a lot of research on the things I might need to consider for those events. I'm also a blogger, and a teacher, so I need to make sure that my reputation online is solid. The books all covered a lot of the basics that I already knew. But I still was able to learn from them - especially the belly fat diet, since it dove more deeply into certain eating plans.
These books are definitely worth what you pay for them. You get a lot of information, much more quickly than if you were trying to wade through a variety of internet sites. I encourage you to check any of them out - or any of the "For Dummies" series - for just about any topic you might be interested in.
Disclosure: I received complimentary copies of the books to facilitate this review.
