Our job as parents is to shape the future. All successful people, heroes, and role models had parents to shape them. However, parenthood doesn't come with gold stars, report
cards or trophies.
We often get so caught up in the all the
work it takes to make it from day to day, with everyone fed, clean and
sheltered, that we forget to take a moment to reflect on the amazing
feats our families achieve in dozens of small ways each day. But then, something happens, something that stops you in your
tracks, like watching your child demonstrating that the values and lessons you've been sharing
have taken hold. It may be something small, like showing tenderness to
a crying friend, or offering to help set the table without being
asked. It's the moment you knew you were doing something right as a
parent.
Now, Kiddie Academy
is giving parents and kids a chance to shine and recognize the good,
warm fuzzy parts of childhood with the "Moment You Knew" photo contest.
To enter, simply visit the contest's Facebook page
and submit a photo of your child demonstrating a positive value. The
grand prize winner will receive a year's tuition to the Kiddie Academy
location of their choice.
"We launched The Moment You Knew
campaign to celebrate the impact parents have on the lives of their
children. Character education is an important part of Kiddie Academy's
curriculum, and we recognize that teaching values can sometimes be a
thankless responsibility for parents and teachers alike," said Claire
Haas, vice president of education, Kiddie Academy. "This program
encourages parents to indulge in a moment of reflection and give
themselves a pat on the back for successfully navigating their critical
responsibility of growing our future leaders, thinkers and doers."
