If
you’re a side sleeper: You need a pillow that is firm, but not stiff,
to keep your head level. A flimsy pillow may let your neck drop down too
low, causing
discomfort
If you’re a back sleeper: A thin
feather pillow is best to help support the neck curve. One’s head shouldn’t be propped too far off the bed
If you’re a stomach sleeper: A
very thin, nearly flat pillow is best. In fact, this pillow
is actually better used under one’s stomach (not head) to avoid lower back pain
If you tend to snore: Opt for a memory foam pillow. This
type of pillows contours your upper body and provides support so your breathing passages aren’t obstructed.
Baby
on the way? Invest in a body pillow as it will best support a pregnant
woman’s shape and stay in place, especially for the back and legs.
Fun facts courtesy of Anna’s Linens:
- 45% of us sleep with 2 pillows, while 35% sleep with 3 or more pillows.
- One-third of respondents use pillows that are less than a year old; and another 1/3 have pillows that are 1-2 years old. Only 5% use a pillow that is older than five years.
