Parenting Pointers: Kids and School Organization

It is a moment of pride to see your grown child in a uniform carrying a bag on his or hers small shoulders and entering the school for the first time. It is memorable moment and a time for new things both for you and for your kid. Now he or she will start living real social life and collecting knowledge.
The time for adjustment from the games and the way the things are done in the kindergarten compared to those the in grades is long and difficult for everybody. Almost every kid is having problems with staying on one place as the teacher is speaking and keeping focused during the whole subject. In case you want to be really helpful for your little student, you can learn something for this article.
Everything is achieved with training and constancy. It will probably not happen from the first time and from the few after that, but eventually you will succeed. Try to teach your child how to focus the attention on bigger things as you practice on small ones. For example take a process like cleaning the teeth in the evening for your training process. As it is repeated every day it will be easier. First ask the kid what is needed to brush the teeth. If he or she does not come up with all the things necessary alone, you can help. Then try to make it clear what is the point of the tooth brushing and how long does it have to last. Keep the kid from getting distracted while brushing and insist to leave everything used like it was before the teeth cleaning started.
Once you have done that try to apply this pattern for every homework or project. Keep reminding the kid that first step is to supply with everything necessary for a task to be completed. Then it is important to learn to resist the distractions and finally it is the checking of the ready work and bringing the place in order. Insist on every part of the process and when your child has one task completed from the beginning to the end, he or she will start to understand why it is so important to follow the steps.
However do not set too high expectations. If the kid has managed so far, do not increase the quantity of the tasks, but leave the rest of the time for playing and rest. Smaller children easily get tired and bored, and they are kids after all. If they are praised and let doing their favorite things when the obligations all over, they will have more motivation the next time. Never automatically refuse any suggestions from your kid. Remember that children can be really creative.
