Friday is International Women's Day. As a woman, and the mother of two girls, I am obviously interested in women's rights issues. I know that here in America, the struggle for equality is over relatively small things, such as encouraging more females to go into certain careers, or closing a wage gap. But legally, women have rights; legally women have access to education. And even though society may be someone challenging for women to navigate, we have come a long way compared to many countries.
This year's theme celebrates the current progress and forward motion of women's rights around the world. You can participate in a live event near you. You can also find out more information on social media: @womensday, International Women's Day on Youtube, Facebook.com/internationalwomensday, International Women's Day on LinkedIn, or the International Women's Day Flickr group.
