Sierra Club has
launched the My Piece of America photo contest, giving outdoor advocates
from around the country to show off their photography skills while
supporting efforts to protect our wild places. As they were when John
Muir founded the Sierra Club in 1892, many of our most cherished public
lands are now under threat – this time from oil, gas, and coal companies
that would rather turn a profit off of exploiting our landscapes than
make a memory. They've had some responses on their website and on instagram,
but are looking to get in great entries from all over the country. Theywelcome
contributions from photographers young, old, and in between and are
taking submissions of photos of all public lands while giving extra
credit to those special places we are working to protect. All entries
will be judged by a panel of photographers, Sierra Club staff and
volunteers, and the winner will be featured across the Sierra Club's
online presence that reaches our 2.1 million members and supporters (on
our home page, on our Magazine's website, across our email list,
featured as a "Daily Ray of Hope," onsocial media, etc.).
