Fun Freetime: Homemade Flowers

You might not have flowers blooming yet, but there are a lot of great ways you can make your own with common household objects and craft supplies as a fun activity with your kids.

- Take a whisk that's seen better days. Spread the loops like petals, and wrap crepe paper around the loops. Dilute some glue with water and spread it thinly over the crepe paper to hold it in place.
- Accordion-fold sheets of tissue paper. Fold a pipe cleaner over the middle, and fluff the tissue paper out. (Layer several colors at once for a fun effect).
- Grate crayons using an old grater. Melt between two layers of waxed paper and cut out in a flower shape.
