My husband and I go camping a lot, and we've got a variety of flashlights, lanterns, and LED headlamps. Headlamps really come in handy for us in a variety of situations. They make it easy for him to be hands-free while he's taking care of the fire, easy for me to carry one of our girls to the bathroom and still see what's around us in the middle of the night, and easy to do any other task - including reading - in the dark. They even manage to make power outages fun for our girls - instead of being scared of what's going on, when we give them headlamps they have fun moving the light wherever they look.
We recently got a package from PantherVision, which manufactures LED PowerCaps, safety glasses, and reading glasses. I like the idea of lighted reading glasses; they provide focused light on the page, making it easy to read, but to my husband, the room is much darker than if I had turned on a lamp (as long as I don't look right at his face). The safety glasses are a great idea for while he's chopping wood - again, the focused light will help him see, and the safety glasses will protect his eyes from the inevitable woodchips. My favorite is the PowerCap. It looks like a baseball cap, but you can turn on the LED lights that are just under the brim. Batteries are replaceable (with easy to find coin batteries), so the hat or glasses will last after the batteries run out the first time.
