Consumer Critique: Time Killer

I loved mysteries when I was younger. I don't read them so much anymore, but I still enjoyed the chance to read Time Killer by Todd M Thiede. The book was very engaging and moved quickly. I read through it in a single day because I was so intrigued with where things would go next. It's certainly a unique idea for a story! If you don't like gruesome descriptions of grisly murders, parts of the book definitely aren't for you. My only complaint with the book was that occasionally the dialogue seemed a little clunky, or there could have been a little more set-up into certain situations that seemed rather abrupt, but I liked the storyline and look forward to more from this author as he improves and refines his craft!
I also had a chance to interview the author about the book.
1) Where did you come up with the idea for this story?

A. The idea actually was a dream that I had on my honeymoon. I woke up from dream and just started typing it out. The first chapter is that dream with some expansions. My wife still jokes about how I started writing a book on our honeymoon. In my defense I did start it while she was still asleep.
2) Did you enjoy reading mysteries and crime novels growing up, or is it a recent interest?

A. I actually used to write mystery stories when I was younger. In 7th grade I wrote the High School Murders for a creative writing project. I didn't get a good grade but it was a cool story. My mother also got called in for a conference because the teachers thought I was obsessed with murder and horror. Most of my book reports were on Stephen King novels.
3) Be honest - how do you feel about people who waste time?
A. Honestly, as a commission salesman in my other life, I can't stand them. People that come to me for my products and take up my time and then don't buy anything affect my life every day. If I don't sell I don't get paid. So when I go to buy something I am straight forward and tell them what I am looking for and I get in and get out as quick as possible so they can move on to the next customer.
4) What do you have planned next?

A. I am currently working on the next Max Larkin book. It is going to be titled "Lies to Die For". It follows our 2 detectives, Max and Jesse, as they try to solve a murder that is sending them on a long, seems to be never ending, quest to catch a person that is leaving very little clues and a unique signature.
5) If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your book?
A. Not a thing.
6) Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
A.  Everybody's time is valuable not just yours. Be kind to those around you.
