Caring Causes: CTC Curtain Call Ball

Reply to the royal decree for Children’sTheatre Company’s (CTC) Head Over Glass Heels Curtain Call Ball on Saturday, September 7, to peek into what happens at the world’s leading family theatre right before the clock strikes midnight. The ugliest stepsisters in town, Pearl and Dorcas (played by Dean Holt and Reed Sigmund), will offer the annual fundraising event their unique take on high-society as guests enjoy a festive rendezvous with the Twin Cities’ most devoted arts patrons. The Curtain Call Ball will offer a full evening of top quality nosh and entertainment complete with a formal dinner, open bar, cabaret, live and silent auctions, prize raffles, live music and dancing.
Every year, CTC raises more than a million dollars to fund its many community access programs like Neighborhood Bridges, scholarships for Theatre Arts Training, and the reduced-rate student matinee program. CTC’s Curtain Call Ball has been the theatre’s core fundraising event for more than 20 years. This year’s elegant Head Over Glass Heels Curtain Call Ball is expected to raise more than $500,000.

Mike Newman, Director of Community Relations and Vice President of Travelers Foundation looks forward to the event each year with genuine enthusiasm. Newman explains, “We are especially excited to support the Ball because of the many educational and neighborhood outreach experiences it helps fund for diverse audiences of young people. Plus, the Curtain Call Ball is just a great time...incredible energy, awesome entertainment, and huge doses of fun with other people who feel the same about CTC. We do it because there is no other place to be when the Curtain Call Ball happens.” Travelers is the lead sponsor for the Curtain Call Ball again this year.

Those who prefer to be Cin-fully late can party with CTC ‘til the last stroke of midnight at the Backstage Bash after party featuring hosts Jason Matheson and Alexis Thompson of FM 107.1. The Backstage Bash will include complimentary cocktails, desserts, and a royal dance party featuring music by Pop Rocks. Target will once again sponsor the 2013 Backstage Bash.

This year, the traditional Dinner Package ($350) includes valet parking, a cocktail reception, open bar, silent and live auctions, seated formal dinner, cabaret performances and admission to the Backstage Bash. The Backstage Bash Package ($65) includes valet parking, an open bar, dancing, hors d’oeuvres, desserts, games, prizes and other exciting surprises. Tickets can be purchased online at childrenstheatre.org or by calling (612) 872-5195 beginning July 24. Tickets to the Curtain Call Ball will sell out, so ordering early is strongly encouraged.
