I was very intrigued when I heard about the book The Stockholm Octavo. It's set in 18th-century Sweden, and follows fashion upper-crust society member Emil Larsson as he follows what fate has dictated to him in a magical set of cards, hoping to find love and the power to save his country. It was a very unique premise - I've never read a book like it - and is written in an engaging, gripping style. I had no problem finishing this book in a weekend.
