Healthy Habits: Car Seat Safety

Earlier this week, the world caught a glimpse of England’s newest Prince as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge exited the hospital with their bundle of joy. As the new parents made their journey home, moms noticed one major snafu, the infant car seat was installed incorrectly. According to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 85% of all baby car seats are improperly installed. Also, the lives of more than 8,300 children under age 5 have been saved by using child restraints properly.  Road injuries are the leading cause of preventable deaths and injuries to children in the United States. Child safety seats that are used correctly can reduce the risk of death by as much as 71% according to SafeKids.org.
