Grand Avenue is hosting a brand new event featuring autumn favorites for the whole family. The first ever Grand Harvest event on Oct. 12, will showcase the tastes, smells and colors of fall. The event will provide a chance to experience the avenue during one of the most beautiful seasons in Minnesota, and take advantage of various sales and activities from participating Grand Avenue businesses.

To kick off the inaugural celebration, Grand Harvest attendees are invited to participate in a Scarecrow Contest. Visitors can vote on scarecrows along the avenue, each handcrafted by local businesses and community group partners, through Oct. 15. Those who turn in a Grand Harvest punch card with a vote will be entered to win four tickets to The Wizard of Oz at the Ordway, on stage Dec. 4 through 29.

Grand Harvest celebrates everything there is to admire about fall ranging from delectable treats to outdoor family fun. Visitors can indulge in the avenue’s autumn treats including, apple cinnamon macaroons from Chez Arnaud, Oktoberfest beer specials at Green Mill and samples of autumn drinks from Golden Fig Fine Foods.  In addition, families can enjoy a day filled with activities including, meeting Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz at Creative Kidstuff, decorating pumpkins at Grand Hand Gallery and monster bowling at Whole Foods.
