Parenting Pointers: Sex & Faith

Disclosure: I received complimentary products to facilitate this post. All opinions are my own.

No matter how old your kids are now, "the talk" is likely going to come sooner than you think. And if you're religious, it's important that you include your faith in the discussion. But many parents don't know the best way to approach the issue of sex and sexuality.

Sex & Faith aims to make this topic easier to discuss. It's nicely written, with example questions that are easily adaptable to what your kids might actually ask or situations that might actually come up. It's divided into several different age groups, with developmentally-appropriate tips and key issues to keep in mind.

A few of the key pointers to keep in mind, no matter what age your child is:
- Don't make the topic taboo. Sexuality isn't something that is secret or shameful.
- Do point out the natural differences between genders, but also between all people, even those of the same gender.
- Start conversations early on, using real terms, to help keep the lines of communication open.
- Answer questions honestly, but also in an age-appropriate manner.
