ABA
will celebrate National Get Smart About Credit Day on Thursday, Oct. 17 from 3-5pm ET with a #GetSmartChat on Twitter about the program’s three topics of focus: Paying
for College, Protecting Your Identity, and Knowing Your Credit Score. An
opportunity for teens and parents across the country to ask top subject
matter experts their most important questions.
The @ABABankingNews Twitter account will moderate the discussion as three experts will each tackle the nation’s questions:
· Paying for College: U.S. Dept. of Education’s Financial Aid Office at @FAFSA
· Knowing Your Credit Score: VantageScore at @VantageScore
· Protecting Your Identity: Identity Theft Resource Center at @ITRC
Now in its 11th
year, the Get Smart About Credit program is a national campaign of
volunteer bankers who help teens and young adults learn the “how to’s”
of credit. As part of its commitment to the Clinton Global Initiative,
ABA added a component this year to help bankers engage students on
financing their higher education. The program’s other two elements are
how to use credit wisely, and protecting your identity.
The
American Bankers Association represents banks of all sizes and charters
and is the voice for the nation’s $14 trillion banking industry and its
two million employees.
