Consumer Critique: The Golem and the Jinni

Disclosure: I received complimentary products as a thank you for this post. All opinions are my own.

The concept of the book The Golem and the Jinni is intriguing. A Golem (a figure in Jewish mythology) meets up with a Jinni (an Arab mythical figure better known as a genie). Both have been brought to life in New York City in 1899. Both are trying to navigate life without letting those around them know exactly what they are, but that's not always easy.

Conflict and emotion get in the way of hiding their secrets, as well as a man desperate to control their power. The ending is not entirely cut-and-dry, good-wins-over-evil, but I like it even better this way.

This book combines elements of historical fiction and fantasy and mythology, making it a fascinating read. The interview at the end of the book with the author is also enjoyable. It's a good book for people who like to explore the fantastical in every day situations.
