It’s official – the LSU Tigers are the 2014 Outback Bowl champions and
whether fans are tasting victory or swallowing defeat, everyone gets
free eats with free Bloomin’ Onion appetizers at Outback. On January 2,
2014, guests can join the celebration by simply saying “Outback Bowl” to
their server to receive the offer, valid with any purchase.
The
2014 game at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Outback’s hometown, marks
the 19th year of Outback Steakhouse's title sponsorship of the Bowl,
which is the longest active bowl sponsorship in history. This year’s
game was as exciting and competitive as ever, but ultimately the Tigers
took home the 2014 Outback Bowl trophy. The Tigers, in their first-ever
Outback Bowl appearance, helped continue the South East Conference's
dominance in this storied bowl game's history, beating the Big Ten
Conference's Hawkeyes 21-14.
With LSU’s win, Outback is preparing
to give away the equivalent length of 7,780 football fields worth of
Bloomin’ Onions. That equates to 442 miles of Bloom petals - that's 29
million inches (or the equivalent of the height of the population of
Miami), or 2.3 million feet (that's the equivalent of 1,600 Empire State
Buildings!). Plus, to prepare for the celebrations, there will be 5,000
additional Outback staff members on hand tomorrow to get the restaurant
ready for the rush.
