Caring Causes: Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

Emily Marquez-Dulin recently joined The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society as Executive Director for Southern Florida and Puerto Rico. She is responsible for managing the organization’s patient services and fundraising efforts.

Monica Alvarado is a 53-year-old Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) survivor who moved to the United States in 1971 from Colombia and currently resides in Miramar, FL. She was diagnosed with AML on March 9, 2004 and was treated at Memorial Cancer Institute. She had a bone marrow transplant on June 24, 2004 at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle, WA.

I recently had a chance to interview both of them to learn more about blood cancers, the LLS, and how you can support those who have been diagnosed.
