Consumer Critique: Ask More, Get More

Disclosure: I received complimentary products to facilitate this post. All opinions are my own.

Michael Alden recently wrote a bold-sounding book Ask More, Get More: How to Earn More, Save More, and Live More...Just by ASKING. That makes it sound awfully easy to get whatever you want, and runs the risk of being selfish, which sort of turned me off at first. But most of the chapters actually made a lot of sense, especially the first part, Ask More From Yourself. In this section, he gives tips for getting yourself to think differently, to stop making excuses, to shape up your body, and to increase your own self-worth. None of that is bad. Then he moves on to asking of others, with negotiating and saving tips which would be helpful in many situations. The end of the book has bonus saving secrets as well.

The danger with a book like this is that results will vary. None of the strategies are inherently wrong, but could be abused and backfire. The author has experience, working himself up from poverty to wealth. So if you want to read how one guy made it, with some tips you could apply to your own life, check it out.
