Healthy Habits: Autism Breakthrough

Disclosure: I received complimentary products to facilitate this post. All opinions are my own.

Any family affected by autism spends a good part of their child's life searching for answers. Raun Kaufman hopes to provide answers in his book Autism Breakthrough. Unlike many books written by those who have worked with kids on the ASD spectrum, Raun actually was on the spectrum himself, diagnosed as severely autistic with an IQ below 30. His parents created the Son-Rise Program, and it made a dramatic impact in his life.

The main premise of the book is that you start where your kids are, rather than trying to force them to fit a mold of therapy that might have worked for others. Because he was autistic, he is able to articulate exactly what many autistic children feel. His book is practical, well-written, compassionate, and clear. If you have a child with autism, it's worth a read - not everything works for every child, but his experience can give you hope and techniques to use with your own family.
