Healthy Habits: Tapping for Weight Loss

Disclosure: I received complimentary products to facilitate this post. All opinions are my own.

Stress, anxiety and low self-esteem are among the biggest root causes of weight gain. Ironically, most weight loss and exercise plans don’t teach you how to beat them – and that’s why the plans often fail. In her groundbreaking new book, The Tapping Solution For Weight Loss And Body Confidence

(Hay House, May 13, 2014), Jessica Ortner reveals a revolutionary system for gaining power over stress, anxiety and the way we feel about our bodies.

I had a chance to interview her to learn more about it.

How did you get involved with tapping?
I first heard about it when I was sick in bed with a sinus infection about ten years ago. My brother Nick had learned about tapping online, and told me to try it. He had always played practical jokes on me, so I thought he was just messing around—especially when he had me tapping on the top of my head! But I started tapping while focusing on my sinuses, and it started to relax me. Then I felt a shift—I took a breath and my sinuses had cleared up. I was blown away.

You originally taught tapping for other issues - why the transition to tapping for weight loss?
I’d had issues with my weight and body confidence for years, and at first when I began tapping, I was resistant to using it for weight loss because I, like most people, thought weight loss was about dieting and exercise. When I finally did begin tapping on my weight and body confidence, I was amazed by the results. I lost 10 lbs. in a month without dieting or extreme exercise, and that’s when I realized what a powerful tool it is for weight loss. In recent years, I’ve led over 3,000 women through my tapping for weight loss and body confidence program, and the results have just been amazing.

What makes this method so successful?
It’s really a new way to lose weight – by looking at the emotions behind the weight, and the stress that we feel when we don’t feel good in our own skin. When we can transform those things, our relationship with ourselves, and with food, exercise – and really our entire lives – change. That’s when we experience long-term weight loss that feels natural.
