I used cloth for my kids. I wish I had researched more of what was out there, because the cloth diapers out today are so easy to use compared to the boring flat ones I used that my mom and grandma did! Itti Bitti is an Australian company that has a lot of options in the US market. I recently got to check out their ones & twos product, redesigned to be trimmer but more absorbent.
My kids aren't in diapers anymore, but my niece still is. Her mom loved these. They were less bulky than some of the ones she had been using, they still absorbed at least as much, if not more, they were cute, vibrant colors that didn't fade. Best of all, they were easy to wash, adjusted to fit several sizes, and you could insert additional soakers for overnight.
If you're interested in trying them out, they're available at a variety of online and storefront retailers. Getting quality cloth diapers is well worth the initial investment and will save you hundreds of dollars in diapers (even if you buy them cheap).
