Healthy Habits: Moving Your Body on the Road

It can be tricky to stay active while traveling, especially when there's a long flight or car ride involved. Here are some tips to keep you from sitting still too long.

- Take frequent stops. You might get to your destination a little bit later, but your body will be happier for it! We usually stop every two hours for a quick break, and spend at least 10 minutes running around and being active. Every four hours we make the break a little longer, about 30 minutes. My kids stay much less crabby!
- Move in the vehicle. If you're on a train or plane you can stand up and walk up and down the aisles periodically. If you're on a bus or car, have fun doing some simple moves with your kids, like seated knee raises, raise the roof, or seated twists.
