Parenting Pointers: A Survival Guide to Parenting Teens

Disclosure: I received complimentary products to facilitate this post. All opinions are my own.

Joani Geltman, MSW, is helping today's parents survive the teenage years! In addition to her experience as a psychology professor, school counselor and parenting coach, Joani has had the experience of raising her own famous teen – Ari Graynor, who has starred in the CBS Television Series, Bad Teacher. She's written a book that has clear advice for nearly every conceivable issue, including cell phone monitoring, forgetfulness and organization, money management, and more.

The book clearly has the modern parent in mind, with many chapters devoted to some phone-related issue (texting, driving, sexting, etc). Even if your teen isn't a frequent phone user, though, there are plenty of chapters on other common teen issues. The book is easy to understand and written with an appropriate level of humor.

It's a huge resource, and it's not necessarily designed to be read from front to back (although a parent certainly could). It's easy to just pull out relevant chapters and read them as issues come up as well. If you have a teenager, or a child who will soon be there, it's definitely worth getting!
