Consumer Critique: Epigenetics

Disclosure: I received complimentary products to facilitate this post. All opinions are my own.

The book EPIGENETICS by Dr. Joel. D Wallach & Dr. Ma Lan embraces all of the events (political, socially, biologically, nutritionally, chemically and genetically) that have been spawned since the publication of The Origin of Species by Darwin, more than 100 years ago.

Dr. Wallach has been a leader in medical world and does more than 250 speeches and presentations a year around the world. He is an advocate for humanity who has spent his career willing to step outside established norm to further the development of mankind. According to him, the current medical system has failed us fearfully. This book ties into everyday life, science, politics, social engineering and medicine and is written for parents and soon-to-be parents, educators, students, nutritionists, open-minded doctors, health practitioners, and community leaders alike - in other words, pretty much everyone

The book is quite meaty - a very hefty read. It's intimidating at face value, but not so once you get into it. Many readers may not agree with everything in the book, but it's still nice to read books from a variety of viewpoints to get a balanced understanding of issues that affect us. The book, despite its title, doesn't spend a great deal on genetics itself; it does provide a background into the idea that a lot of conditions are hereditary, but that's not the focus of the book. Rather, it deals with a variety of things in our lives that does affect our health.

I do agree with the idea that there are a lot of other options out there than conventional medicine. I think both Dr. Wallach and more traditional medical professionals have a place in health care, which is why I think it's worth the time to read, even if it is a challenge to get through if you don't have a great deal of time!
