New Adi Plates Minimize Mealtime Mess

Mealtimes can be stressful for parents with little ones. Currently, portable placemat products or bowls use adhesive or suction to affix to a table surface. However, a curious toddler can easily remove it and toss it aside. Adi is a new lightweight and portable plate for on-the-go parents and caregivers. It’s specially engineered suction base keeps Adi anchored in place on a high chair or table top. Its innovative, patent-pending design includes a strong suction base combined with a quick release tab allowing for easy parent removal. The plate has three separate compartments and a snap-tight lid that keeps food neatly in place so you can take it everywhere you go. Parents can simply place the lid on, toss it in a bag, and take it with them to a playdate, the park, or a restaurant.

Invented by Karen Weiss Kart, an attorney turned entrepreneur and mom of three, Adi is a stylish, modern, and whimsical plate that appeals to both parents and children. Adi not only looks adorable in a penguin shape, but really stays on a tabletop or high chair as well. Adi is currently seeking funding on Kickstarter, which will allow the Adi team to purchase production tools and order the first 5,000 units from the manufacturer.

I had a chance to interview Karen to learn more.

What was the inspiration behind this product?

After an embarrassing dinner out with my toddler, in which spaghetti ended up on a stranger's head, I needed a plate that couldn't be lifted or moved.  I also wanted one that was childproof and could be taken with me everywhere I went. Since I couldn't find one, I created www.prodigikids.com and invent Adi, the stay-put plate engineered to stay in place.

How can parents keep kids focused during mealtime?

Adi was specifically designed to keep kids focused during mealtime.  Your baby and toddler will love to look at its cute, whimsical penguin shape.  It appeals to parents and children alike.  See attached photos

What has surprised you most about using Kickstarter?

We launched Adi on Kickstarter and have been so excited to meet our backers.  We have a great following who love Adi from around the world, and I love to hear their comments on how to grow the company and offer other plates in the future.  Adi is the 1st in our mealtime friends line, and we have plans to expand in the future.
