Amazing Apps: SquirrelWarz

SquirrelWarz is available for iPad. It's a real-time strategy game that challenges players to lead their squirrel army and gather resources, build towers and protect their home tree. The game is available for $1.99.  It is a great “first” strategy game for kids with its fun graphics and easy game play.

Real-time strategy games aren't common for younger kids, because they are often quite challenging. With this game, my seven-year-old was able to grasp the basic concepts. The graphics are cute, and it was a game that really made her think! In fact, as we got more into it, it really made me think too! It's engaging enough to spend quite a bit of time with, but also provides for short gameplay in times when you just need a few minutes of entertainment. The music is cute and so is the animation, and it's a very kid-friendly game.
