Consumer Critique: Bunny's First Spring

It can seem weird to think about spring in the middle of winter - but sometimes, in the dreary white-gray of winter, it's the perfect time to think about the bright vitality of spring. Bestselling author Sally Lloyd-Jones, with help from illustrator David McPhail, celebrates spring as the season of rebirth in the upcoming picture book Bunny’s First Spring.

The little bunny is born in spring, when the world is bright and hopeful and vividly colored. But then fall comes, and the beautiful green starts to change - and all disappears in the winter, worrying the bunny. But then comes to hope of a new spring.

The beautiful illustrations reflect the gorgeous world around us and the text reminds us of the annual miracle of spring. The final page has a quote from Luther: “God has written the promise of new life not just in books alone—but in every leaf in Springtime”. My daughters loved this story, even though they're old enough to know that spring keeps coming back every year. It is still a cute, beautiful book.

Bunny’s First Spring is available with hardcover for $15.99 on January 15, 2015 at retailers nationwide and online.
