Parenting Pointers: Daphne Dishes

Mom, blogger, and stand-up comedian, Daphne Brogdon, shares her secrets to easy and impressive family-friendly meals, with a healthy side of humor on new Food Network series Daphne Dishes, premiering on Sunday, January 4th at 12pm ET/PT. Follow her life at home with her husband, their two kids, and dog, as she whips up home-cooked, hearty meals that put smiles on the faces of her family and friends. As the wife of professional chef Mark Peel, in their home, the kitchen is Daphne’s domain. Shhhhh...don’t tell her husband that the kids like her cooking better!

In each of the six half-hour episodes, Daphne impresses with recipes for comforting dinners, birthday bashes, game day delights and relaxing girls’ nights. In the premiere episode, Daphne invites her mom and sisters over for a healthy dinner. On the menu is a Pecan Stuffed Chicken Breast, which she livens up by paring it with Blistered Tomatoes and Feta Cheese, and Crowd Pleasing Couscous. For dessert, she makes a mouthwatering dark chocolate sauce, poured over fresh berries, that leaves guests wanting more.

During another episode, Daphne shares her solution to a common problem that so many moms face when they open the refrigerator door and see nothing but leftovers. Daphne shows that preparing a tasty meal with what is on hand is not a problem! Using last night’s braised brisket, Daphne makes a savory Brisket Ragu served over Crispy Pasta, and transforms some lonely cauliflower into a spicy side of Cauliflower with Roasted Red Pepper Sauce. Even when serving leftovers, you cannot forget dessert. Daphne gives her leftover vanilla pound cake a makeover with ice cream, balsamic macerated strawberries and toasted almonds. Leftovers never tasted so good!

Daphne Brogdon is a television personality, standup comic, blogger, wife and mom. She began her career as a radio producer and on-air personality, but her quick wit and improvisational skills quickly led her to host a variety of television shows. But as an improviser and entertainer, Brogdon was looking for a way to perform without leaving her children behind at home. This sparked the creation of her two websites for moms, which receive millions of unique visitors per month - Coolmom.com, the first comedy mom vlog, and Momversation, which brings top mom bloggers together to discuss issues via video. As the wife of professional chef Mark Peel (Spago, Campanile and La Brea Bakery), Brogdon began helping to cater, recipe test, manage the business development and marketing for his ventures. Together they will be opening a new eatery in Downtown LA later this year.
