Healthy Habits: Keeping You and Your Children Healthy

Since it’s been said that summer bodies are made in the winter, you may be stocking up on healthy goods.

Next month is officially National Nutrition Month, and Coupons.com Saving Expert, Jeanette Pavini, has created some tips for keeping you and your children healthy all year round! Plus, right now you can save on some great healthy products with printable coupons, including yogurt and other healthy snacks!

Use a Portion Plate
A healthier diet is something we can benefit from at any age. In fact, it is recommended that half of your plate should be fruits and vegetables. Start serving dinner on MyPlate for Kids portion plate. It’s a very fun and visual way to get more fruits and vegetables on their plate.

Serve seasonal variety
Introduce kids to new, seasonal options. You may think there are slim pickings in winter, but blood oranges, persimmons, pomegranates, and kumquats are all winter fruits kids will love.

Have meals together
Research shows that families who eat meals together tend to eat healthier and children are less likely to be overweight. As children become teens, it’s also been proven to be a good way to stay engaged in their lives and prevent other bad habits like drug and alcohol abuse.
