It sounds like a crazy claim, and very rapid weight loss, so like every other diet, your mileage may vary. If you only have 10 pounds to lose, you certainly can't expect rapid results, for example. However, the book is well-researched and credible, coming from a doctor who lays out the basis for the nutrition claims made by the book.
Hormones play a role in not just weight loss, but also energy, aging, and many illnesses. Eating healthy helps our body keep hormones in balance. Although I'm not in favor of a diet quite as restrictive as she lays out in terms of food to avoid, her book is also realistic, tight guidelines for the beginning of the program, and then looser guidelines for a lifelong pattern of eating that is still healthy, but flexible.
